A must try 2 week Crete Family Vacation Itinerary

  • Day 1-4: Elounda

Start your vacation in Elounda, a charming coastal town located in eastern Crete. Elounda is a perfect vacation spot for families with toddlers as it offers crystal-clear waters, picturesque beaches, and delicious Cretan cuisine. We recommend staying at the Elounda Residence Hotel, which is located on a hill with the most breath taking view of Elounda and the sea. You can easily walk to town but they also offer shuttles all throughout the day. They offer a water park, tons of kid friendly activities, several pools and even live music nights. Spend your days exploring the town, visiting nearby beaches, and enjoying delicious Cretan food.

  • Day 5-7: Balos Beach and Kissamos

On Day 5, head to the northwestern coast of Crete and visit Balos Beach. Balos Beach is famous for its turquoise waters, pink sand, and stunning views. To get to Balos Beach, take a boat tour from the nearby village of Kissamos. This is an excellent activity for families with toddlers as it allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery while keeping your little ones entertained. Don't forget to pack plenty of snacks and sunscreen for the trip.

  • Day 8-10: Elafonisi

Elafonisi is a breathtaking beach located on the southwestern coast of Crete. With its shallow, warm waters and pink sand, this beach is perfect for toddlers. Spend your days swimming, building sandcastles, and enjoying the stunning views. We recommend packing a picnic and having a family lunch on the beach.

  • Day 11-14: Heraklion

End your vacation in Heraklion, the capital of Crete. This city is steeped in history, making it a fascinating place to explore with your family. Take a trip to the Palace of Knossos, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Crete, or visit the Natural History Museum of Crete, which is a fun and educational activity for children. Don't forget to indulge in some delicious Cretan cuisine while in Heraklion.

Where to Stay on your Crete Family Vacation Itinerary

In Elounda, we highly recommend the Elounda Residence Hotel. This hotel is perfect for families with toddlers, offering excellent facilities and a water park which makes it ideal for families. For Balos Beach, we recommend staying in Kissamos, as there are no hotels near the beach. For Elafonisi, we recommend staying at the Elafonisi Resort by Kalomirakis Family, which is located just a few minutes from the beach. In Heraklion, we recommend staying at the Agape Resort which is a bit outside the city but still close enough to easily get to the city. It also is beach front and has a great kids club.

In addition to the beautiful beaches and historic sites, Crete offers many child-friendly activities that will keep your little ones entertained. Don't miss the chance to visit Matala Beach, a stunning beach on the south coast of Crete. This beach offers shallow waters and plenty of sand for your toddlers to play with. You can also take your family to the Aquaworld Aquarium and Reptile Rescue Centre, where you can see a variety of sea creatures and reptiles up close.

In conclusion, Crete is the perfect vacation destination for families with toddlers. With its beautiful beaches, rich history, delicious cuisine, and child-friendly activities, there is something for everyone on this beautiful island.
