Bali is a fantastic destination for families but if you're reading this it's probably because you already know that, so here are 9 activities to do in Bali with your toddler (+ a bonus one at the end).
You've spent months dreaming of the sun, sand, exotic views, and mouth watering dishes. Now, it's time to go on your Bali trip, and there's a voice in the back of your head that doesn't let you enjoy the pre-vacay Bali daydream because "how am I going to entertain my toddler?"
This is exactly what we're here to solve.... that nagging voice! Because if children live in Bali, yours can visit! 😉
Oh and we have created a Complete Guide on Bali with Toddlers, that have our best recommendations on food, entertainment & stays.
1- Drive up to Lahangan Sweet sunset Viewpoint
Location: Banjar Dinas Gulinten, Bunutan, Kec. Abang, Kabupaten Karangasem, Bali 80852, Indonesia
Drive up the mountains until you reach this fantastic spot to watch the sunset and the volcano. Make sure you have plenty of gas when you go. Beware that the last bit is rough so you might have to get off your motorbike and walk up. The view is worth the hike. DO make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes.
Why do we like it: because the drive there is absolutely beautiful, plus the view is unmatched.
Recommended ages: as soon as your toddler is comfortable hiking 800+ meters or you're ok carrying them.
Price range: $
2- Spend an afternoon at PASUT beach
Get our FREE Checklist to pack you diaper bag like a pro!
Location: Jalan Raya Pasut, Tibubiu, Kec. Kerambitan, Kabupaten Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia
We had a blast doing a family tour here and it was the highlight of our time there. We drove there from Seminyak and ended up being delayed due to traffic. This is something to keep in mind when you do go, however, once there it is another side of Bali. Besides enjoying beautiful black sand beaches with a very unique surrounding, you can do sunset motorcycle or atv tours and photos. We did our tour with Aussie Bali Adventures and it was absolutely wonderful. The kids were surprisingly into it as well. Beware that you will get either muddy ( if you choose the jungle version) or sandy by the end of it. You can rinse yourself in their shop, but you maybe plan a change of clothes for the littles.
Why do we like it: Incredible sunsets, beaches to yourself, fun atv activities, local feel (this part of Bali is nothing like Kuta)
Recommended ages: kids of all ages can attend as long as you’re comfortable with it. For the ATV tours we do recommend going with a company like Aussie Bali Adventures who have good quality helmets and new gear for little kids as well as adults.
Price range: $$$
3- Release Sea Turtles
Denpasar : Jl. Tukad Punggawa, Serangan, Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80229, Indonesia
+62 811 3882683, [email protected], www.baliseaturtle.org
Kuta: 75G9+MWV, Jl. Pantai Kuta, Kuta, Kec. Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
Sanur: Jl. Segara Ayu No.8, Sanur, Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80227, Indonesia
This is a fun, educational, and beautiful activity to do in several areas of Bali and that is generally very popular with little kids. We love incorporating conservation opportunities in our trips, especially those that involve learning about the protection of the more vulnerable in our planet.
Why we like it: Bali Sea Turtle Society has been involved in the conservation, nest protection, hatching, and human awareness about sea turtles and all the other turtle centers listed above do a similar job. Over all is a good cause and experience for the little ones to do in Bali.
Recommended ages: all ages
Price Range: $ donation
4- Visit the Ubud Art Market
Location: Jalan Raya Ubud main road, opposite the Puri Saren Ubud palace.
Timings: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Have a fun morning or afternoon discovering the art scene (and maybe doing some souvenir shopping) in Ubud with your little one. This can be done in almost any touristy area of Bali, as many have local markets with arts and crafts. We love the Ubud markets the best, however, as they seem to have the most variety. The colors, flavors, and sounds of the markets in Bali are a great opportunity to indulge the senses of your toddlers and for them to make some friends. BEWARE everyone will want to play with your little one
Why do we like it: It’s a great way to explore the culture through art and get some fun souvenirs. It’s also really fun for the kids and a fun way to interact with locals as well.
Recommended ages: all ages but keep in mind it’s best to wear babies and toddlers because the high traffic (of pedestrians and scooters) makes it hard to drive a stroller.
Price range: Depending on what you buy. Don’t forget to haggle.
5- Visit Kids World in Bali
Location: Jln Pejeng, Dapdapan, Tampaksiring, Tampaksiring 80570, Indonesia
Timings: 10:00 am to 07:00 pm
Even though we are big fans of outdoors activities, we know some days it's just not possible. For a needed indoors break, head over to Kids World near Kuta, where kids can roam free and have a ton of fun in a controlled environment.
Why do we like it: The whole environment is safe and neat for kids to play with other kids. There are many different age groups allowed and it's likely your little one will find a similarly aged kid to play with. The venue can also be booked for special occasions like birthday parties.
Recommended ages: all ages
Price range: 15 USD
6- Tegenungan Waterfall
Location: Jl. Ir. Sutami, Kemenuh, Kec. Sukawati, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80581, Indonesia
Close to Ubud and easily accessible this popular waterfall offers amenities such as restaurant with toilets and is an unmissable stop if in or around the area. It's beautiful and family friendly but do keep in mind that during the rain season when the water is abundant you are not allowed to swim.
Why do we like it: well known waterfall easy to access from Ubud
Recommended ages: all ages but keep in mind there are a lot of steps to get down.
Price range: 20K IDR entrance fee
7- Berawa Art House
Location: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.99, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia
What is it: Little kids and adults alike can take classes with some of Bali’s best artists. Families can take classes together.
Why do we like it: Fun and unique activity that uses many senses, cultivates creativity and is fun.
Recommended ages: Recommended for kids 3+
Prices: $210K for a kid session or $400K for adults.
8- Monkey Forest Ubud
Location: Jl. Monkey Forest, Padangtegal Ubud, Gianyar, Bali, +62 361 971304, [email protected], www.monkeyforestubud.com
A nature reserve, Hindu temples, a research and conservation station - it’s a tourist must visit. Ubud's Monkey Forest is also the best place in Bali to guarantee some monkey time with the native Macaques.
Why do we like it: You can walk through and see monkeys feeding their babies, playing around, or getting into trouble. We like that even though it is very touristy and can get crowded, it has vast walking areas so you can always go away from the crowds.
Recommended ages: good for all ages but please be mindful of monkeys and little kids. Anything and everything colorful, food like, or that hangs outside a bag should be put away from monkey’s eyesights.
Price range: 80K IDR per adult and 60K IDR for kids but toddlers younger than 3 go free.
9- Uluwatu Temple
Location: Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
Beautiful Cliffside temple offering both culture and amazing sights of the Indian ocean. Great addition to a beach day trip in Uluwatu
Why do we like it: It’s a must see in Bali and both a cultural and beautiful experience.
Recommended ages: Probably more fun for older kids (7+) but doable and enjoyable with kids of all ages. Don't forget your carrier.
Price range: $30K per adult
And because we're friends, I know you want more. So, here is a BONUS:
