Here are the 7 tips to help you travel with a carseat:

  • Check the Airline's Policy:

Before you pack your child's car seat, check with your airline for their specific policy regarding bringing a car seat on the plane. Some airlines allow you to check the car seat for free, while others charge a fee. Some airlines allow you to take the carseat in the plane with you, whereas others expect you to check it in at the counter.

  • Pack the Car Seat Correctly:

Pack the car seat in its original box or a sturdy carrying case. This will protect it from damage during transit. If you're checking the car seat, make sure it's properly labeled with your contact information. One thing we swear by is packing it inside a carrying bag and then padding it with extra diapers to protect it from being thrown around and getting damaged.

  • Consider Gate Checking:

Some airlines allow you to gate check your car seat. This means that you can bring it on board the plane with you, but it will be stored in the airplane's hold during the flight. This is a great option if you want to keep an eye on your child's car seat.

  • Use a Car Seat Travel Cart:

A car seat travel cart is a convenient option for traveling with a child car seat. It allows you to roll the car seat through the airport, making it easier to transport.

  • Rent a Car Seat:

If you're traveling to a destination that you'll be using a rental car, consider renting a car seat. This eliminates the hassle of traveling with a child car seat and ensures that you have a safe and secure car seat for your child.

  • Use a Car Seat Cover or bag:

A car seat cover is a great way to protect your child's car seat from dirt and damage.  We swear by our carseat bag which has wheels. Before this we used a cover and it did the trick as well. It also makes it easier to transport and store when not in use.

  • Book a Car Seat-Equipped Vehicle:

If you're traveling by taxi or ride-sharing service, book a car seat-equipped vehicle. A lot of cities offer Ubers or their equivalent that already come with car seats. This ensures that your child has a safe and secure car seat for the journey.
